Planning and Future Trends Working Group
The Planning and Future Trends Working Group is responsible for identifying and analysing emerging trends and issues in electronic communications relevant to BEREC’s mandate. It also plays a crucial role in developing the BEREC Work Programme. Moreover, this working group is actively involved in BEREC’s international and inter-institutional cooperation.
Mr. Ola Bergström is the Director for International Affairs at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS).
Mr. Bergström has been active in the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) since its creation and is currently a Co-Chair of the Planning and Future Trends Working Group (PFT WG). During 2014 and again in 2020, Mr. Bergström chaired the Contact Network of BEREC during the PTS’ Chairmanships. Mr. Bergström has been actively engaged in the cooperation between BEREC and other regulatory networks and regulatory authorities globally.
Mr. Bergström is also engaged in global regulatory discussion and is responsible for the work in the Telecommunications Union (ITU), under assignment from the Swedish Government. Mr. Bergström is also responsible for the capacity building work carried out by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, and supports the Swedish government and Swedish industry in bilateral relations.
Mr. Bergström is also engaged in global internet issues and represents Sweden in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and the European Commission High Level Group for Internet Governance (HLIG). Mr. Bergström is currently Vice-Chair of the Governmental Advisory Committee to ICANN and also a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) to the IGF.
