The Digital Markets Working Group focuses on ensuring fair and open digital markets. By providing valuable advice and expertise to foster independent and consistent regulations, both current and future, the Working Group helps creating a level playing field for all stakeholders. This is essential for promoting healthy competition, spurring innovation and benefiting consumers.
Margarida Melo Santos joined the Portuguese regulatory authority for postal communications and electronic communications (ANACOM) in 2009. She has been contributing, among other things, to market and competition analysis within the postal and electronic communications sectors, with a special focus on broadband, free-to-air Television and trunk segments, comprising access circuits to submarine cables. Since 2020, she has actively participated in the discussion and analysis of the regulation of digital platforms in Europe, being an active member and a drafter in the European Mediterranean Regulators Group, the European Regulators Group for Postal Services and the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications groups.
Margarida holds a degree in Economics from ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon, and postgraduate degrees in International Relations and in Competition and Regulation, both also from the University of Lisbon.
