Kate Labunets

Dr. Kate (Katsiaryna) Labunets is an Assistant Professor in the Software Ecosystems Security group at Utrecht University, Netherlands. Previously engaged in postdoctoral research in cybersecurity at TU Delft, she contributed to the VSNU Digital Society and H2020 CYBECO projects. Dr. Labunets obtained her PhD in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Trento, Italy, and a Master’s in Mathematics from Belarusian State University, Minsk, Belarus.  

Dr. Labunets specialises in studying human factors in cybersecurity and cyber risk management. Her expertise is backed by extensive empirical research, demonstrated through her authorship of about 30 academic publications. Her work is in the intersection of human behaviour, technological and organisational security, offering valuable insights into developing more effective cyber risk management strategies. 

Research interests: security behaviour, human factors, mental models, cyber risk management, and empirical methods.
