Ian Levy
Vice President/Distinguished Engineer, Amazon Security Leadership
Ian Levy joined Amazon after serving 23 years in the UK’s signals intelligence and security agency, GCHQ. For the last decade, Ian was responsible for the technical work that has protected the UK’s cybersecurity, including acting as the National Cryptographic Authority and the National Technical Authority. In 2015, Ian became the founding Technical Director of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, the single UK government agency responsible for improving cybersecurity across the UK. During Ian’s tenure, the agency made material positive changes to the UK’s security posture, including through the Active Cyber Defense program. Ian holds a degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Science. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, and is a Chartered Engineer. Ian was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2010 and a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in 2023.
